In the final stretch of Term 3, Hwa Chong celebrated CCA Appreciation Week, a special occasion dedicated to expressing our gratitude to the teachers, coaches, instructors and non-teaching staff who have supported us throughout the year.
The week started with CCAs expressing their appreciation to their teachers-in-charge (TICs), coaches and instructors through Instagram Posts on the official HC CCAs Instagram page (@hcccas). Paragraphs with words of gratitude filled each post, accompanied with a group photo of their CCAs. There were also two videos dedicated to the non-teaching staff, who were the “Unsung Heroes” to honour them as they quietly kept our world running. The videos consisted of interviews with these staff members to help students understand what they do for the school.
To further mark the event, two large whiteboards were placed in the canteen, one for CCA TICs and the other for non-teaching staff. Both boards quickly became a colourful tapestry of gratitude as students wrote with different colour markers and placed bright post-it notes all over them. Heartfelt messages, ranging from simple words of thanks to elaborate expressions of appreciation, filled the boards, recognising the hard work and passion that the teachers and staff consistently show.
On the Wednesday of that week, most CCAs wore their CCA shirts as a symbol of their unity and reminder of the teamwork and dedication that defined their CCAs. “Seeing my CCA batch mates wear our CCA shirt together definitely helped to foster a strong sense of belonging to my CCA,” Hilda Seah Kai Hui (24S63) commented.
And last but not least, a bingo-inspired challenge was held for CCAs to go the extra mile in showing gratitude to TICs and non-teaching staff. One such challenge was to make a paper frame for support staff. Furthermore, CCA Council members presented hand-made cards to non-teaching staff, each card containing heartfelt messages from the student body.
Though the week has come to a close, the positive energy still lingers, reminding students of the value of gratitude and teamwork, and most importantly, the role the teachers and staff play in shaping their experiences.
