Hwa Chong Institution (College Section) opened its doors to the general public on 16 January, showcasing its vibrant student life and school activities, and giving secondary school graduates the chance to know more about life in junior college.

From 12 pm to 4 pm, over 2800 secondary school students, parents, and aspiring Hwachongians caught a glimpse of the various academic pursuits, extracurricular activities, and opportunities the school offered to its students, as well as the strong school spirit that binds the hearts and minds of the student body.

Apart from a talk by principal Mr. Lee Peck Ping and various teachers on the school experience and its various academic programmes, visitors were also treated to a spellbinding series of performances in the Central Plaza by our dedicated students, such as an eye-watering rendition of the Riau folk song Soleram by rioHC (Hwa Chong College Choir), crisp moves by the Music and Dance (MAD) club, live wrestling by the Judo club, and more.

In addition, the student councillors staged a series of school cheers and dances around the campus that highlighted the exuberant school spirit of SODACHE. Amidst the hustle and bustle of Open House 2026, their infectious enthusiasm definitely made a bright and indelible impression on the participants.

In the school hall, booths for Service and Enrichment CCAs, Service Learning Projects and Student Committees were set up, and a steady trickle of curious students ensured no rest for the passionate club members manning the booths, who were glad to assist their juniors in understanding more about their CCAs.

Hwa Chong’s 18 varied, unique and top-tier Sports and Games CCAs were situated in the Indoor Sports Hall. Their numerous interactive activities gave prospective athletes the chance to experience first-hand Hwa Chong’s diverse CCA landscape.

Lastly, participants were also invited to a tasting session for the Bento boxes prepared by catering company SATS, which supplies food for Hwa Chong Institution as part of the newly instituted hybrid canteen model, in which students are able to choose between bento sets and live vendor stalls for meals.
