From 15th to 16th April, High School and College Judo members participated in the highly-anticipated Judo NSG 2026. For many of the J2 members, this will be the last time they formally compete in a sport that has followed them for the past 6 years.

The overall results became a good conclusion to end the NSG 2026 season for Judo. The CCA managed to win a clean sweep across most categories for both Boys and Girls, keeping up the winning streak. Particularly, all J2 girls managed to win a medal, ending their Judo chapter on a high note. Both the Girls’ and the Boys’ captains, Sng Le Xuan, Rochelle (25S79) and Ng Yu Herng (25S6A) respectively, shared their satisfaction for how the competition went. “I was very happy we came back after last year (competition).” Yu Herng shared.
For the girls, the low number of female members posed a challenge. “We had to go to Nanyang to train with the juniors.” Rochelle recounted, “It was actually a good time to interact with juniors and past coaches, and also a good time to reminisce and appreciate the atmosphere.” Additionally, fewer girls meant some members had to cut weight to fit into certain weight categories. “It was very stressful both for the members and the team, since no one wants to see their teammates go through hardships.”

Moreover, members’ various commitments, both in school and externally, worsened the stressful environment of the NSG period. Training got more and more intense, especially for the newcomers who had to go through many full days of training for a sport they have never done. At the end, it was the belief that everything will be worth it at the end that pulled many members through, knowing that they have tried their best in the process.
Ultimately, all the challenges became worth it. The challenges and obstacles became the glue to bring the team together. Members came together to cheer for their teammates, shouting and galvanising the fighting spirit of those competing. Beside medals and the victory, a highlight of the day was the “Hwa Chong Rou Dao” cheer. Being a Judo tradition, the cheer showcases the Hwa Chong Judo spirit of resilience and perseverance.
Passing the baton to the J1 batch, Rochelle and Yu Herng recommended the J1 members to cherish their time and every moment with the team, as well as forge memories that they can carry beyond JC. They advised their juniors to be patient and that results will come if they are willing to be consistent.
Congratulations to all our Judo athletes, and we are proud of your efforts and achievements!
