Emotions ran high during the various exciting performances.
To everyone’s relief, the light rain that the evening began with stopped just in time for AthenAres to start as scheduled! While the Faculty Committee members mopped up the rain puddles in the Central Plaza, students donned in their red and green Faculty shirts arrived one by one.
Before the performances started, students were already queuing to collect their free food and drinks, some of which include: hotdogs, popcorn chicken and LiHo bubble tea. Some checked out the other activity booths, with popular choices including the exciting Bubble Bump, the challenging but fun Meltdown, and the Face Painting booth!

Much fun was had playing the various games.
As the sun began to set, the warm lights around the Central Plaza were turned on, setting the mood for the start of the amazing performances from our student body. The performances kicked off with the Dual Poco Showdown and Sam’s House 2.0! Their passionate voices and bright energy put a smile on everyone’s faces, even those scattered across the various booths. The next performance, by Bo Chao the Goat, spread laughter and cheer, as he pulled off his creative dance moves to the song “恋爱ing” by Mayday. Students immediately whipped out their phones to capture this hilarious scene.
As the sky turned into a darker blue, the sing-and-dance performances continued in the Central Plaza. Some of the J2 Faculty Committee members performed as well, showcasing their appreciation and gratitude for their Faculties. As expected, the photo booth had a snakingly long queue along the Inner Plaza. Close-knit groups of friends and classmates picked up various props and posed in front of the camera, happy to make a tangible memory that they can look back on in time to come.

Students were given a chance to show off their singing...

...and dancing!
At the final highly-anticipated moment of the event — the rave, students of both Faculties came together to sing along to crowd-favourite songs. With their arms around each other’s shoulders, they gave their all in jumping and singing along together.
As AthenAres came to a close, Eindray Mhu Khin (24S74) commented that it was very heartwarming to see both Faculties ‘vibing’ together.” Sure enough, this year’s AthenAres definitely lit up the fireplaces in our hearts, and will remain a fond memory for all those who attended, for many years to come.
